Norman Builds a Park

An outdoor storybook exhibit at Walnut Creek Wetland Park telling the inspiring story of Dr. Norman Camp III’s efforts to restore the wetlands. Written in partnership with PEJ, this permanent installation is a tribute to his legacy.

A Look Back at Our Community in Action


Mud Day 

A family-friendly festival hosted by City of Raleigh Parks & Recreation in partnership with PEJ. This event highlights the importance of wetlands and encourages kids to explore nature through activities like a mud slide, live animal encounters, crafts, and water play.


Urban Waters Federal Partnership (UWFP) Announcement 2023 & Our Creek. Our Communities. Festival (Earth Day)

PEJ was honored to host the EPA’s official announcement event at Walnut Creek Wetland Center, making Walnut Creek the 21st Urban Waters Federal Partner location. The following day, PEJ led the first Our Creek. Our Communities. Festival at the Southeast Raleigh YMCA in celebration of Earth Day.


Mud Day Celebration 2025

Event Details When: Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Location: 950 Peterson Street, Raleigh, NC 27610 

Join us for the seventh annual celebration of our wetlands and all things muddy and wonderful! There will be activities, food trucks, and of course, a giant mud pit! Come dressed to get messy and wet. We've got a mud kitchen, live animals, fort building, obstacle course, local environmental organizations, crafts, and water play.
