James Huey
Board Member
James Huey works as an environmental justice attorney at Southern Coalition for Social Justice in Durham, where he provides pro bono legal assistance to impacted communities. Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, James graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College in 2019 with a triple major in economics, supply chain, and management. James then received his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2023, where he was a member of the North Carolina Law Review and the Environmental Moot Court Team. He additionally interned for the Southern Environmental Law Center, Earthjustice, and the North Carolina Department of Justice during his time in law school. James received the UNC Bane Writing Award for his graduating class, and he has been published in the Elon Law Review and UC Berkeley's Ecology Law Quarterly (forthcoming). As a Raleigh resident and environmental justice lawyer who lives only a short walk away from the Walnut Creek Wetland Center, James works as a Board Member to offer guidance and support to PEJ however he can.
