Sarah Brim

Community Watershed Ambassador

Sarah Brim serves as PEJ's Community Watershed Ambassador (CWA), where she connects the Walnut Creek Watershed community with valuable resources from partners and stakeholders through a variety of programs and outreach efforts. Originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, she moved to Raleigh to attend NC State University, earning a degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Africana Studies, with a focus on environmental justice.

During her undergraduate years, Sarah had the opportunity to research the human dimensions of conservation biology on Andros Island, Bahamas. This experience, combined with her coursework in ecology, sociology, and biology, solidified her passion for fostering relationships between historically marginalized communities in both natural and built environments.

For nearly three years, Sarah honed her skills as an environmental educator at Walnut Creek Wetland Center, where she shared the environmental justice history of the park while guiding visitors through its natural wonders. She also served as the Year 3 Educator for the City of Raleigh's Neighborhood Ecology Corps, a three-year cohort program, helping middle and early high school students build environmental literacy through hands-on education and activities. With extensive experience in designing and delivering programs based on participant feedback, Sarah is excited to bring this expertise to PEJ.

When not working, Sarah enjoys exploring the natural world through activities like dip netting, hiking, or herping (searching for reptiles and amphibians). Indoors, she can often be found building Lego sets, spending time with family and friends, or diving into creative arts and crafts projects.
